BP_7_Historical Portraits Come to Life

 “Historical Portraits Come to Life”

Jamie Baker

Brief Overview

This unit will offer an approach to arts-integration. The students will apply their knowledge of historical figures to portraits in art.  The students will write a paragraph about their historian. After creating digital recordings of writing, the files will be loaded to QR codes.  After printing codes and attaching to the bottom right corner of artwork, the schools will provide a teaching art gallery in which smart phones and iPods can scan and listen too as if you had a headset in a art museum.  This type of learning experience should have more impact on long-term memory and provide my students with an authentic audience for their artwork.

  1. I love this! I have had students in my courses actually put QR codes on their business cards as well. It’s a very powerful tool. I like your use of them here to help promote knowledge of historical figures and artwork. Giving students the power to get their knowledge out there for others, and using new tools to do so is very inspiring.

Have you considered expanding this QR code implementation into the classroom? You could use QR codes to have students access their homework assignment downloads, or a link to their schedules.

Great use of multiple technologies here!
